Wounded heroes receive medals
Sixteen soldiers and one CAA of 6th Infantry Division were awarded Wounded Personnel Medals by 6ID Commander Maj. General Rey C. Ardo in a simple ceremony held at Camp Siongco Station Hospital on August 15, 2012.
“Our brave soldiers risked their lives to repulse the simultaneous attacks launched by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) on military detachments in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Unsay, Guindulungan and Shariff Aguak towns in Maguindanao and Midsayap and Pikit in North Cotabato on August 6, 2012,” Maj. General Ardo said.
Conferred with the award of Wounded Personnel Medal were: 1Lt John Dave G. Aguilar, 1Lt Ronnie C. Dimalaluan, Cpl Jonathan C. Yabo, Cpl Joseph P. Primavera, Pfc Randy S. Bruan, Pfc Mar O. Botanas, Pfc Jerry P. Napilay, Pfc Zhomhar P. Ramos, Pfc Major G. Villanueva, Pfc Kennenful P. Orena, Pfc Garry C. Cagas, Pfc Felix C. Capilitan Jr, Pfc Erickson A. Lungub, Pfc Vercardinal L. Payoyo, Pfc Eugene A. Estenzo, Pfc Jhonny L. Legario and CAA Benjamin Q. Ora. They are now recuperating from their injuries.
“These men saved several lives and inspired many others with their courage and gallantry. It is only fitting that we recognize their bravery, self-sacrifice and devotion to duty with these awards,” Maj General Ardo added.
The Wounded Personnel Medal (WPM) is awarded to members of and civilians employed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines who are injured in combat with the enemy.
