CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – Three more New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion yesterday morning (December 17, 2017).
The rebel returnees belonged to Platoon Samsung under Gurrilla Front 73 and yielded their firearms, 2 high powered and 1 low powered. They surrendered because the armed struggle they joined had become pointless.
Last Thursday (December 14), 4 NPA memebers surrendered to the unit who were also from Gerrilla Front 73.
These rebels underwent custodial debriefing at the Headquarters of 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion under Lt Col Lauro G Oliveros.
6ID Commander, Major General Arnel Dela Vega is expecting that more NPA rebels will surrender, as the government is intensifying its fight against terrorism.
The returnees will be presented to the local officials of Sultan Kudarat province and will be provided with appropriate benefits under Comprehensive Livelihood Integration Program (CLIP).
