CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – The combined government forces of 6th Infantry Battalion, 6ID, PA and Criminal investigation and Detection Group of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao apprehended 11 suspected Maute group members in Barangay Romagondong, Marogong, Lanao del Sur and recovered cache of weapons in a successful operation early this morning.
The joint forces conducted simultaneous raids in Marogong town to serve an existing warrant of arrest against Ali Kuton and Arnel Samo who are both wanted for murder. During the simultaneous raids, the operating troops nabbed a group of armed men believed to be affiliated in the Maute group operating within the boundaries of Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.
Along the apprehension of the terrorists was the recovery of 1 Nissan Terrano and cache of weapons that included one 60mm mortar, one M60 machine gun, one homemade barret, one rocket propelled grenade, two M14 rifles, one M16 rifle, one M-203 grenade launcher, one garrand rifle, one carbine rifle, one calibre 22 rifle, 1 M79 grenade launcher, numerous assorted explosive and ammunitions, and 3 handheld radios.
603rd Brigade Commander, Colonel Jesus B. Sarsagat, indicated that his brigade’s campaign efforts are embedded in 6ID’s campaign plan so as to deliver a deliberate and well-planned law enforcement support operation.
On the other hand, 6ID Commander Maj Gen Arnel V. Dela, congratulated the troops of 6IB for the successful operation that resulted to the apprehension of local terrorists with their firearms thriving in Mindanao.
