CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – Two improvised explosive devices (IED) exploded last Monday night (April 17) at around 7 o’clock in the evening in a business establishment at a National Highway in Barangay Isabela, Tacurong City.
The first IED exploded at Dragon Mart and Gasoline Station, which was thrown inside the comfort room.
While the personnel Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) Team were conducting post blas investigation, another explosion occurred in front of the establishment estimated to be 20 meters away placed inside a garbage container which injured 16 people.
The victims were identified as: SSg Logen Presaldo, SSg Ramel Garde, Cpl Alvin Jimenez, SPO2 Jasper Garcia, PO2 Gerald San Pedro, and PO1 Eleazar Sustiguer from the government forces who are mebers of Joint Task Force Talakudong.
Ten civilians were also hurt, namely: Sausalito Manoy; Ballairanda Dawika; Joseph Liba; Leo Cueva, Ryan Omar Hipolip Alim; Michael Pon; Danica Ila Ballaran, 14, Brgy San Pablo; Reymart del Rosario, 21, Brgy Calean; Roger Bamo, 47, Brgy New Isabela; and Richard Pineda, 36, Brgy New Isabela, all of Tacurong City.
The victims were being treated at Quijano Hospital and Tamondong Hospital in Tacurong City immediately after the blast.
Few minutes after the second blast, members of Tacurong City Police Sation apprehended 2 suspects which were very suspicious while they were trying to leave the crime scene. The suspects were in possession of M67 fragmentation grenade and MK2 fragmentation grenade.
The suspects were identified as members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front who are residents of General SK Pendatun and Datu Piang, both from Maguindanao.
The investigation at the blast sites is still being conducted by the Tacurong City Police office and the scene of the crimes operatives (SOCO) to determine the motive of the incident.
