Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – About 1,200 Muslim faithful composed of soldiers from 6ID and civilians joined by their families gathered at the 6ID Grandstand for an early morning congregational prayer in the observance of Eid’l Fitr.
The event marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan for the Muslim believers, which is the season of prayer and fasting. They all gather to pray in celebration for peace, unity and thanksgiving.
6ID Commander Major General Edmundo R. Pangilinan expressed gratitude among the Muslim soldiers and key stakeholders in giving 6ID the chance to be part of the celebration.
“I wish to greet our Muslim brothers and sisters during the celebration of Eidl Fitr that reminds us of the need to sacrifice, to fast and reconcile with each other. This activity intends to bring a strong message to the people all over the country that here in Central Mindanao, Christians and Muslims co-exist peacefully and harmoniously with each other,” the Commander averred.
“I also encourage everyone to join me in prayer for peace and security in Mindanao so that economic boost and development will reign,” he added.
After the prayer, the participants were served with Halal meals for the traditional Kanduli after the monthlong fasting.
This is the first time that the 6ID hosted the Eid’l Fitr celebration within its grounds for a congregational prayer which was also attended by the International Monitoring Team Malaysian Contingent.
