Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat Maguindanao – As the month-long Holy Ramadan, also known as Eid’d Fit’r, culminates, the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division headed by its Commander Brig General Edmundo R. Pangilinan joined the Muslim community of in the esteemed celebration at the 6ID Mosque on July 28, 2014. Brig Gen Pangilinan extended his sincere greetings, not only in the Bangsamoro area but to all the Muslims around the world. He further stressed out the importance of fasting and the hardship that every Muslim undertakes while in the observance of “Ramadan”. The Commander also explained that the purpose of fasting is the cleansing of oneself making him closer to Allah. He added that the strict observance of “Ramadan” is not an easy task for it requires a month-long and day to day sacrifice. He related this to the sacrifices that the military service demands. Furthermore, he stressed out that as soldiers were being commensurately compensated by the Government, it is therefore a requisite for every soldier to perpetually render a dedicated service to his country and to the people, for it is from the people’s tax that his salary is being derived from. Brig Gen Pangilinan assured the people of Central Mindanao that their soldiers will always adhere to the specific provisions of the law with regards to “Human Rights” and the “International Humanitarian Law”, for gone are those days when soldiers are the ones that are being served. He concluded that it must be every soldier’s devotion to render service to the people not because he ought to do it, but because it’s the right thing to do .
