Kampilan News

Eight wounded Kampilan troops at Camp Siongco Station Hospital were awarded with Wounded Personnel Medal (WPM) award for their acts of heroism in an encounter with armed lawless group in the different area of responsibility (AOR) of 6th Infantry Division. On July 22, 2014, Cpl Alden S. Llanera and PFC Irenio C. Aguirre from 61st Division Reconnaissance Company and Cpl Michael Klain R. Mazon with PFC Noli E. Endaya from 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion were awarded with WPM pinned by ARMM Governor Mujiv S. Hataman assisted by 6ID Commander Brig General Edmundo R. Pangilinan. The personnel were wounded in an encounter against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter in Maguindanao. The governor also handed them with cash assistance together with the gift items coming from the Command. Brig General Pangilinan thanked the governor for his support for the government troops and assured him that the 6ID will continuously support his leadership for the peace and security sector of ARMM. On the other hand, Governor Hataman thanked the wounded heroes for their untiring and relentless efforts in protecting the security, peace and interest of the people in Central Mindanao. Same medal was also awrded to PFC Jun Jun M. Catarroja and Pvt Nelson P. Deleña from 14 Mechanized Company, Cpl Julito R. Borromeo from 62nd Division Reconnaissance Company and PFC Richard V. Erlano from 75th Infantry Battalion during a separate skirmish in Maguindanao and Surigao del Sur. The WPM is awarded to the members and civilians employed in the Armed Forces of the Philippines who are injured during combat. In a separate ceremony, Cpl Roy D. Darish from 61st Division Reconnaissance Company and PFC Eduardo P. Señerez from 75th Infantry Battalion, who died in separate encounter in Maguindanao and Surigao del Sur were respectively awarded with Military Merit Medal (MMM)-Posthumous.
